It's Been a Long Time

Travel in the 1980s was all about drivable destinations for our family of five. Back then, my parents managed to budget for an RV, which was all the rage. We would pack up and embark on summer adventures. From Bryce Canyon, where my sister Danielle had a mishap falling off her horse, to the lake for Mackerel fishing with our boat-owning neighbors, the Wades, where I accidentally hooked my sister's finger with a worm on the line. Driving along the PCH, originally hailing from Southern California but born in Northern California.

These memories hold a special place in our hearts. Countless trips were made, instilling a love for travel in all of us. My sister has surpassed me in living in various places, spanning two continents. While my older sister has also explored her fair share of the world, it's my parents who continue to inspire wanderlust, now marking 30 years of owning a Travel Agency. With my dad turning 80 next month, he recently returned from the Dominican Republic, where he used to lead mission trips for their church. We all thought he had retired, but one thing about him is that he may retire from one thing for several years, only to find new ways to stay active. Perhaps that's how he manages to keep up with my little one.

We have explored the Redwoods in California, ventured to the Salt Flats in Utah, and embarked on a cross-country journey that took us three weeks to traverse the country. From the dazzling lights of Vegas to hot air balloon rides in New Mexico and savoring barbecue in Canton, TX, we savored each moment.

When my father established the agency, I accompanied him through courses and trips. He specialized in Group Cruises and Group Travel, and now, at 48, I am preparing to take over the reins of the travel agency. I am back to assist with marketing, business development, and ensuring progress.

While my dad has excelled independently, I have ambitious plans for expansion. To begin, I am organizing the collection of photos I have amassed over the years. Instead of covering my walls with them, I am considering partnering with a company to transform them into books for around $60 each, making them easily accessible for reminiscing.

Ready to delve into new adventures, create memories with my child, and uphold the travel legacy, I am eager to embark on this journey.

Our cruising adventures began in the early 1990s, initially serving as a platform for the gospel singing group my father managed while promoting the travel agency he founded, a brilliant strategy. Cruises have since become their preferred vacation choice, although they also lead group tours.
