Train travel has in previous years paled in comparison to the allure and extravagance of Europe by rail, but you have to admit, there are some pretty fantastic day and weekend jaunts worthy of taking a little time to enjoy the view.

To Cruise of Not

My parents have gone on their favorite cruise of all time for the second time. Over 30 years they've been cruising and coordinating cruises for groups. Here are some of the advantages to cruising over land excursions. 

1. You see more - instead of having to figure out an itinerary each day, one is practically provided for you. Even if you don't want to get off the ship, there's so much to see and to do. The ability to go from land excursions by day to Vegas showcases and entertainment at night offer quite the experience. 
2. Cost Efficiency - there's no doubt about it, traveling via cruise ship has significant savings compared to flying to a destination and staying in a hotel. With included meals and accommodations,  shows and entertainment, and many other amenities, it's a hard deal to beat. 
3. World Class Accomodations - depending on the cruise line, you are bound to experience a unique and exquisite experience, tailored to your every whim. Especially river cruises, luxury travel has really stepped up their offerings for clients wanting the best of the best. 

All in all, dollar for dollar, experience for experience, I highly recommend cruising. Now, I have had some people tell me they've had poor previous cruise experiences. You may be harder to convince to jaunt around the Caribbean via cruise ship, but I beg for your reconsideration, as you can compare ships to hotel stay experiences. I've had the unfortunate experience of lumpy bed during a hotel stay with a brand whom I thought was trust worthy. It didn't sour my perception of the brand overall, but rather in the area I was staying. I hope the same will be of you choosing to cruise again! Better ship, maybe not even the brand. Better time of year, etc. When you self plan without an experienced agent, you may run into poor tour operators, ships, etc. This is why it is highly important to do business with an experienced and well traveled agent!
